Pre-School and Pre-K Programs
Story Book House divides children into three groups:
• 3 Year Olds
• 4 Year Olds
• Pre-K (older 4’s; younger 5’s)
 
Each group follows the same basic schedule, with outdoor play being staggered. Our teachers are trained in child development and plan programs and weekly lessons according to ages. This series of age groups will progress from basic fundamentals up to skills necessary for Kindergarten.
• Teachers will provide a variety of developmentally appropriate hands on activities to increase social skills, communication skills, and physical development.
• We have play house areas, block areas, art areas, and lots of table toys for development of small muscles and coordination.
• We encourage self help skills, cooperation with others, and listening and following direction.
 
Monthly calendars are given to parents so you can see what your child will be working on and what the weekly themes will be.
 
Children play hard and need a good rest each day. Your child will be given his/her own cot and encouraged to relax and sleep each day. Children unable to fall asleep will be asked to “rest” quietly on the cot. Please send in a blanket which will be kept and laundered here.
